FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – BOISE, Idaho, 7/1/2024 – Associated Insurance Services, an independent insurance and risk management firm based in Boise, was the first Idaho agency in 33 years to be recognized as Agency of the Month by prominent trade publication Rough Notes magazine. This achievement is considered by the insurance industry to be one of the highest honors an agency can achieve. Associated is only the second Idaho agency to be featured as a Rough Notes Agency of the Month. The first was Obenchain Insurance in 1991. Obenchain was acquired by HUB International in 2010.
Associated was founded in 2005 by a group of Idaho logging contractors. Today, it remains owned by Idaho and Montana businesses, predominantly loggers and log truckers. With a 27-member team and over $40 million in annual sales, Associated is one of the largest locally-owned insurance agencies in Idaho. Its growth has been achieved organically, not by acquisition. The agency’s three-member leadership team is made up of Bryan Graham, Clint Paskewitz, and Emily Koleno, each of whom has worked for the agency for over a decade and risen through the ranks.
The article in Rough Notes magazine’s June 2024 issue tells the story of the agency’s progression from a 2-person company working exclusively with the logging industry, to today, as a diversified operation with multiple departments and specialties. Around half of the agency’s clients are logging contractors, representing over 70% of the logging insurance market in Idaho. The other half of the agency’s portfolio is made up of businesses in a variety of industries but especially construction, real estate, transportation, manufacturing, bars and restaurants. Recently, the agency has expanded and invested in its employee benefits and personal lines departments.
Associated is known for its service-over-profit model, which intentionally produces low profit margins. The agency prioritizes investments in improving the client and employee experiences rather than maximizing profit.
Associated will be considered for the Rough Notes Agency of the Year award in early 2025, alongside ten other companies that will be recognized as agencies of the month in 2024.
